Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee vented her frustration over the diversion of funds collected from overloaded trucks to Kanthi. The meeting, held on Tuesday, saw Mamata reprimanding several officers, including those from the police administration, albeit without direct naming.
Sources reveal Mamata's explicit criticism of the police administration, hinting at their alleged involvement in overlooking illegal activities. She accused the system of turning a blind eye to smuggling operations involving coal, sand, and even cattle, facilitated by overloaded trucks.
Furthermore, Mamata expressed outrage at the apparent corruption, stating that money from such illegal activities is siphoned off right under the noses of the authorities. She highlighted the money trail leading to Kanthi, although the specifics remain unclear.
Secretary of the Department of Information and Technology, Rajiv Kumar, also faced Mamata's wrath during the meeting. Mamata scrutinized the department's functioning, expressing concerns over leaks of administrative information. She voiced suspicions of individuals operating on both sides, compromising the integrity of administrative operations.
